Virgin Atlantic Luggage Allowance 2026 — What You Need to Know

Planning a trip with Virgin Atlantic? Check your baggage allowance before choosing a case: it depends on your cabin, route and booking. Check your booking and the airline's latest rules before travelling.

Virgin Atlantic hand baggage

Economy Light, Economy Classic, Economy Delight and Premium passengers can bring one cabin bag up to 10kg, with maximum dimensions of 23 × 36 × 56cm per bag. Upper Class passengers can bring up to two cabin bags: one bag can weigh up to 12kg, or two bags can weigh up to 16kg combined. The same maximum dimensions apply to each cabin bag. You must be able to place hand baggage in the overhead bin unaided unless you have arranged assistance with Virgin Atlantic.

In addition, passengers in all cabins can bring one under-seat bag, such as a handbag, laptop bag or small rucksack, up to 40 × 30 × 15cm. It must fit beneath the seat in front.

Virgin Atlantic says bags exceeding the allowance may incur a charge and be placed in the hold. Check the current terms before travelling, and measure the full exterior of your packed bag, including wheels and handles.

Cabin cases to consider

A 19-inch case may be an option for the main cabin-bag allowance if its full external measurements and packed weight meet the rules for your booking. Virgin Atlantic checked baggage

Checked-bag entitlements depend on cabin and sometimes route:

• Economy Light: no checked bag included. A checked bag can be bought before flying or at check-in; purchased bags have a maximum weight of 23kg each and maximum dimensions of 90 × 75 × 43cm.
• Economy Classic and Economy Delight: normally one checked bag up to 23kg and 90 × 75 × 43cm. Some routes include two checked bags instead; check your route and booking.
• Premium: two checked bags, up to 23kg each and 90 × 75 × 43cm per bag.
• Upper Class: two checked bags, up to 32kg each and 90 × 75 × 43cm per bag.

Checked cases to consider

For a checked case, compare its listed external dimensions and packed weight with the entitlement on your booking.
